Fireflies Academy is an ESE (exceptional student education) private school for children with neurodiversities, ASD (autism spectrum disorder), and related diagnoses. The Academy will accept children with other diagnoses if the children’s needs can be met, as determined by the initial evaluation.

We, at Fireflies Academy, believe that the physical feeds the cognitive. By combining movement, academics, and the arts in a proprietary manner, we enable children to access the lobes of the brain beyond the brain stem for cognitive growth in all areas of development.

Our Mission

The Fireflies Academy mission is to give children with neurodiversities/Autism/ADHD the tools they need to successfully integrate into society and to live independent lives as adults. We want to help families be able to focus on their children and not their children’s symptoms. By reducing symptoms of neurodiversities/Autism/ADHD, we aim to help the families by improving both the present and future quality of life and time together. Mainstreaming is our goal.

Our Philosophy

At Fireflies Academy, we believe every child with neurodiversities/Autism/ADHD can grow intellectually, emotionally, physically, and socially. No one model works for our kiddos. We need to explore all models and find out what combination works best for them. We believe in building a symbiotic relationship with our children in order to enter their worlds, bring them into ours, and tap into their potential.

Our Promise to You

Your child's social interaction, interpersonal interaction, and communication will be supported
When your child communicates (either through gestures, sounds, or words), his/her communication will be listened and responded to
Your child will be actively engaged throughout the day
If your child is stimming, we will approach it in a positive and nurturing way
Children will be encouraged to manage and control their emotions and behaviors
When and if your child engages in maladaptive and/or problem behavior, it will be effectively managed by our staff
Your child's initiation of engagement with other kids will be encouraged and supported
Children will be greeted with energy, excitement, and enthusiasm daily!

Stay involved!

Communication amongst Fireflies Academy staff, parents/caregivers and families is greatly encouraged. Carry-over of what is learned during school hours is crucial to generalization of your child's growth across all environments.
